Do you speak English?

Pilar Ossorio and Elena Arenas' classes 1ºE, 2ºD and 3ºA-B took the final oral exam at Paseo del Prado which is a great place because the Prado museum always has tourists around. They interviewed foreign people in English (1ºE and 3ºA-B) and in German (2ºD) on the 3rd of June.
They took their cameras and MP3s and recorded their conversations in order to hand in their recordings to the teachers. They also did posters with pictures and a summary of their interviews.
The students really enjoyed it. We have been doing this activity for fifteen years or maybe longer, with different classes and they have always liked it. It is a good opportunity for the students to “show off” their English or German and to realize that the English and German they study is really useful to communicate in our everyday world with people from everywhere.

Los grupos 1ºE, 2ºD y 3ºA-B hicieron el examen oral final “in situ”, en el Paseo del Prado, que es un sitio estupendo porque siempre hay extranjeros alrededor del museo del Prado. Entrevistaron a extranjeros en inglés (1ºE y 3ºA-B) y en alemán (2ºD) el 3 de junio. Llevaron sus cámaras y sus MP3 y grabaron las conversaciones para entregar las grabaciones a las profesoras. También hicieron carteles con fotos y un resumen de las entrevistas.
A los alumnos les gustó la actividad. Llevamos haciéndola quince años, o quizá más,con distintos grupos y siempre les gusta. Es una buena oportunidad para que los alumnos “luzcan” su inglés o alemán y se den cuenta de que el inglés y alemán que estudian es útil de verdad para comunicarse en el día a día con gente de todo el mundo.
